N.C.C. to Host Pet Expo Thailand 2023 This May with Support from TAT to Boost Pet-Friendly Tourism
N.C.C. has announced that Thailand ranks third globally in pet food exports, driving growth in the entire pet industry. The "PET Expo Thailand 2023" will be held for the 23rd time, showcasing a wide array of products and services with special promotions, along with adorable and rare pets and numerous special activities. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) supports the event, aiming to stimulate tourism alongside pets, as spending by travelers with pets has increased by 20% per trip. The event is scheduled for May 4-7 at Hall 6-8, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, with an expected attendance of over 100,000 people.

Mr. Sakchai Patrapreechakul, Managing Director of N.C.C. Management and Development Co., Ltd., the organizer of "PET Expo Thailand 2023," stated that Thailand is currently the third-largest producer and exporter of pet food globally, following Germany and the United States. In 2022, the export value of pet food products reached 90.228 billion baht, a 27% increase from 2021's 70.991 billion baht. The pet food industry meets the needs of pet owners and contributes to the growth of other pet-related businesses, such as pet care products, pet equipment, veterinary hospitals, and pet-friendly hotels. Additionally, the tourism sector in Thailand is adapting to accommodate travelers who wish to bring their pets along, leading to a continuous increase in pet-friendly hotels and restaurants, which significantly stimulates the Thai economy.

This year, N.C.C. is preparing to hold "PET EXPO Thailand 2023" from May 4-7 at Hall 6-8 of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in the heart of Bangkok. The convention center is excited to welcome "Pet Expo Thailand" back after being closed for over three years. The food and beverage outlets at the convention center are also ready to accommodate pet owners and their pets attending the event.
The "PET EXPO Thailand 2023" is themed “Steampets Steam Punk”, showcasing a variety of pet products and services from numerous leading brands all in one place. This year, over 300 exhibitors are expected, including brands like Whiskas, Pedigree, Temptations, IAMS Cat, and Royal Canin, along with veterinary products, supplements, grooming products, clothing, accessories, and innovative pet products.
New activities will be introduced this year, including a demonstration sports competition for dogs featuring two categories: Skateboarding Dog and My Dog Anywhere, as well as a hamster competition judged by international judges.
Various zones within "PET EXPO Thailand 2023" will welcome animal lovers, including the Pet Village featuring beloved farm animals like sun conures, miniature horses, capybaras, miniature pigs, and caracals. The Exotic Pet zone will showcase rare animals for enthusiasts, including snakes, axolotls, water dogs, raccoons, horned frogs, bearded dragons, leopard geckos, and Bengal cats.

In the Rabbit & Cavy zone, visitors can enjoy the cuteness of guinea pigs and various rabbit breeds on display. The Prairie Dog zone will showcase the adorable prairie dogs, while the Ferret zone will feature lively ferrets for everyone to enjoy.

The event will also feature a wide range of pet products and services catering to the lifestyles of beloved pets and their owners, with special promotions and various activities to enjoy, along with plenty of prizes. It is expected that over four days, more than 100,000 visitors will attend.

Mr. Kachornrit Kwanmongkol, Director of the Product and Tourism Business Group at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), as a supporter of the event, stated that the global population is increasingly interested in pet ownership, leading to continuous growth in the pet industry, especially in the past 2-3 years. The trend of Pet-Humanization has elevated pets to family member status, prompting businesses to adjust their policies to align with the behaviors of pet-friendly tourists. For instance, airlines now allow pets to travel with passengers, and hotels permit pets to stay with their owners. TAT has found that tourists traveling with pets spend approximately 20% more per trip, primarily from high-spending groups, representing a new market segment with significant potential and promising growth. This presents an opportunity for the Thai tourism industry to generate additional revenue from this new customer base. To encourage tourists to travel with their pets, TAT has developed the Amazing Happy Paws Thailand logo and a symbol indicating that establishments welcome tourists traveling with their pets.

At "Pet Expo Thailand 2023," TAT will present the Amazing Happy Paws Thailand branding and guidelines for pet-loving tourists, providing information on pet-friendly tourism products and services through TAT's platform and partners. There will also be guidelines for tourism businesses wishing to welcome pet-loving tourists, along with activities for tourists to enjoy, such as a photobooth for memorable pictures with cute souvenirs. Additionally, TAT has invited partner hotels involved in the project to participate in selling packages at the event.

Those interested can bring their pets to "Pet Expo Thailand 2023" from May 4-7, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Hall 6-8, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
